FUNDO bookends have the shape of Japanese old-style weights which were used for scaling silk or silver currency in the EDO period. FUNDO shape is still alive as a map symbol for banks today. The brass bookends are heavy in weight so that they can stably hold books and the bottom is lined with a felt so that it won't damage the surface on which the bookends are placed. The brass will age over time creating a beautiful patina.
